PM Relocations would like to bring your kind attention to the probable indefinite strike situation arising in major cargo ports in India. Ports such as Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Cochin are anticipated to go on an indefinite strike from March 9th, 2015. Please note that the operations work in these ports will be slowed down as majority of the work will be conducted by contractual workers.
India is encouraging corporatization of its twelve state-backed ports as it strives for renewing its shipping industry. “Corporatization will attract investments and leverage land resources lying unused with the shipping ports. Also, this will encourage the ports to become companies under the Company’s Act” said Mr. Arun Jaitley, Indian Finance Minster while presenting the Union Budget for 2015-2016.
